The Warri Choral Society, a musical group founded by Mr Joseph Ayonmike, is to stage classical music Concert Number 57 in honour of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman.
In a press statement by Dr. David Agbowu (Chairman, Concert Committee), Mr.Emmanuel Eserado (Master Secretary) and Mrs. Chichi Ayonmike, Ph.D (Music Director), the Society pointed out that the concert has nothing to do with party politics but simply to honour Odigie-Oyegun who himself is a classical music lover and has, in fact, attended several concerts of the Society.
“Indeed, he (Chief Oyegun) is coming to this concert with many of his friends across party lines. What is more, we are anon-profit making body registered with the Delta State Government, with the objective of reaching out to the world through classical music. And at every one of our past 56 concerts, there has always been a special guest of honour, most of the time, a Federal Minister, a Governor, a King or someone in that class. This time, we are honouring a worthy patriot who will be accompanied by the who-is-who in this country, for his achievements in life,” the statement added.
“The music content of the concert promises to be a remarkable evening for all specially invited guests and other attending lovers of classical music. The performance will draw from the works of three out of the great music masters, namely: G.F. Handel, Joseph Haydn and Amadeus Wolfgang Mozart, with the performers interpreting the works as flawlessly as originally intended by the composers.
“Entry to the venue is strictly by invitation basis for Oyegun’s specially invited guests and tickets for other lovers of classical music”.
