YENAGOA—A policeman (names withheld), attached to Bayelsa State Police Command, yesterday, shot dead a colleague (names withheld) over a N20,000 largesse they got from an unspecified operation.

According to a source, the deceased was of the opinion that they should make returns to the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, while the other objected.

It was alleged that in the ensuing argument over what to do with the money, the enraged policeman brought out his gun and shot dead his colleague, a native of Ondewari community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.

The dead officer, who had two wives, has been deposited at the morgue of Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, while sympathisers were still trooping in to pay condolences to the family.

His neighbours at Swali, Yenagoa, described him as a jolly good fellow.

Contacted, spokesman of Bayelsa State Police Command, Asinim Butswat, could not confirm the incident, saying he was yet to be briefed.
