Jos—As part of efforts to rescue the country from recession, the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, has held a think-tank conference for participants to brainstorm on ways of repositioning the economy and making it viable.
The three-day conference, tagged From Recession to Recovery and Growth: Policy Options for the Nigerian Economy, has in attendance 70 top economists drawn from the academia, banking industry, business sector, among others, with 17 papers presented from across states in the country on topics bordering on economic recession.
Addressing the participants at the event, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, Senator Tijani Kaura, tasked the Federal Government to be more steadfast towards addressing and proffering solutions to the economic recession.
Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Dr. Obadiah Mailafia, who was among the paper presenters, said: “We need to build industry and absorb the energy of the youths or watch them come back to haunt us.”
