Ondo state Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko will, Thursday, flag-off the dualisation project of the 4.7 km Ikare-Akoko township road.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Mr Kayode Akinmade, in a statement in Akure on Wednesday, said the flag-off ceremony has been fixed for 10.00am adding that, works would commence at the Alabojuto hill area of the road where improvement of its vertical alignment  would be done to put an end to incessant road accidents occasioned by the hilly and slippery nature of the road section.

Akinmade explained that Oke Alabojuto through the central mosque at the city centre spanning about 400 metres would be focused and completed within three months being the first phase of the project.

He noted that the contractor handling the project, RCF Nigeria Limited, has already moved all needed equipment to site as the company has been fully mobilized to ensure the completion of the project as scheduled.
According to him, the state government decided to carry out the improvement of the vertical alignment of the road section with a view to reducing the hilly and sloppy section to plain and safe state for motoring.
While enumerating government’s strides in road infrastructure in the area, the commissioner stated that 27.5 km Ikare-Ajowa to Kogi boundary road under construction has reached 75 percent completion  while failed portions of Owo-Ikare federal road have been rehabilitated.
