WARRI – LEADER of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, Chief Edwin Clark, thundered Friday at the collection of Niger Delta militants that contemptibly resumed fresh hostilities in the region despite the clear moves by leaders of the region to broker peace with the Federal Government, describing them as “enemies of the people and criminals”.

Irked by the renewed destruction of oil facilities, especially after the November 1 meeting of PANDEF and President Muhammadu Buhari, at Abuja, Chief Clark, who spoke in Warri, Delta state, said those still bombing pipelines were misguided and tools in the hands of selfish politicians and contractors.

The former Federal Commissioner for Information at an enclosed meeting of PANDEF in Warri, declared that the affected militant groups were wide off the mark, be they Niger Delta Avengers, NDA or otherwise, adding: “To vent anger on government can never receive the blessings of PANDEF, we cannot continue to cut our noses to spite our faces.”

He, nonetheless, appealed to federal government not to be distracted by the antics, urging President Buhari to “go on acting on the requests we made on the 1st of November. We will deal with this situation. We will not sit down at home with arms folded and allow some few individuals to destroy our destiny.”
