•Says Falcons want to make a statement
Striker Asisat Oshoala has warned their Africa Women Cup of Nations opponents to show some respect to the Super Falcons as they are still the best in the continent.
Oshoala who showed tremendous improvement on her marksmanship scored four goals in the 6-0 drubbing the Super Falcons handed their Malian counterparts Sunday in their opening game of the AWCON.
The Arsenal Ladies striker who was speaking after the game said: “This is just the first match. We have to come out strongly to make a statement to the rest of Africa that we are still very much around.”
Oshoala who is the the current African female player of the year added that the team is focused on retaining the trophy.
“Basically it is not about Asisat Oshoala, rather the whole Nigerian team. I did not come with a target in mind to win the Most Valuable Player or the top scorer, rather to make my country (Nigeria) proud.”
Nigeria will play Ghana next on Wednesday. The Black Queens claimed all three points from Kenya with a 3-1 in the other group B game.
