2 Lagos Task Force officers die in auto crash

LAGOS—Two officers of the Lagos State Task Force on Environmental and Special Offences, Enforcement Unit, have died in an auto crash in Alausa, Lagos.

Vanguard gathered that the accident occurred few minutes after the officers left their head office on Wednesday night, en route Governor’s Road, Alausa.

It was learned that the two officers died after their Hilux van crashed less than 500 metres away from their head office.

A source at the task force office, who confirmed the incident, claimed they were driving at a very high speed, when the vehicle crashed and that one of the officers died instantly, while the other died at the early hours of yesterday.

Unconfirmed report alleged that the task force officer, who drove the vehicle, was drunk.

When contacted, Police Public Relations Officers, Dolapo Badmus, said she was not aware of the auto crash.

Meanwhile, efforts to reach the Task Force Chairman, Yinka Egbeyemi, proved abortive as several calls made to his phone were not picked.
