Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has told his players to prepare their minds for a do or die battle in Ndola , Zambia when the Super Eagles play against Zambia’s Chipolopolo in Sunday’s FIFA 2018 World Cup qualifier.
A winning start for the Eagles will boost their chances in the group featuring African heavyweights Algeria and Cameroon. And Rohr who has a full house of Super Eagles players except Victor Moses, Leon Balogun and Isaac Success who are injured, said his team will not be deterred by the bad conditions they might meet in Zambia.
“We go to Zambia to win,” declared a confident Rohr. “It will be difficult because Zambia have a good team and like the three other teams in our group, any one of us could qualify for the World Cup.
“We watched them against Kenya (in an AFCON qualifier last month) and the pitch in Ndola is not good, but it will be the same for both teams.”
He was optimistic that the Eagles will cope without the injured trio.
“We will be missing Balogun, Victor Moses and Isaac Success, but we’re a team and the other players will have their chance to show their qualities,” he said.
