Peace returns to Assemblies of God Church in Sapele

By Tare Youdeowei

THE crisis rocking the leadership of Assemblies of God Nigeria, Sapele District, Delta State, was resolved yesterday at a reconciliation meeting by members of the church.

It will be recalled that the protracted leadership tussle between the General Superintendent of the church, Prof. Paul Emeka and Rev. Chidi Okoroafor, had polarized the church, forcing some worshippers to leave the church for other churches.

However, in a statement by the Secretary of the church, Palmer Sunday, the Sapele District of Assemblies of God Nigeria, reiterated the resolve of members of the church to ensure that unity and lasting peace prevail despite the crisis.

“We stand against division, crisis and disunity in the church. The General Council of Assemblies of God, Nigeria, under the leadership of Reverend Paul Emeka, extends a hand of fellowship to all Assemblies of God members home and abroad to join the effort for total reconciliation.”
