BENIN—PEACE has returned to Assemblies of God Church in Edo State, after the two warring factions held a special unity rally service, declaring that the crisis which had factionalized the church in the past three years was over.
General Superintendent of the church, Professor Paul Emeka, had been leading a faction of the church while his deputy, Dr Chidi Okoroafor, was leading another faction
However, in the unity service held Sunday at Oluku, the Edo District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Dr Joel Okogele, said the unity service signaled an end to the crisis and sued for peace in the church.
At the service tagged, Enough is Enough, the District Superintendent noted that the crisis had not only affected the church membership, but also the mandate of the church which was to win souls for Christ.
He stressed that the three years old leadership crisis which resulted into several court cases, had become a big embarrassment to the church in the eyes of the public.
