ASABA—A political leader in Ndokwa/Ukwuani axis of Delta State, Rear-Admiral Mike Onah (retd), has called on political office holders to pay attention to the needs and aspirations of their constituents, saying that such a step would bridge the gap between them and their supporters.
Onah, who is also a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said that political office holders should always live up to the billing of their office through openness and accessibility, which he noted would address the alleged complaints of insensitivity that most of their constituents have levelled against them.
He said: “It is important for political office holders to be very open so that people can reach them at any time. The constituents are your people while you are their representatives in government. You should relate with them whenever the need arises.
“You should, therefore, resist the temptation of not picking calls from your people because your response may save a life or even solve a critical problem,” said Onah at a reception in honour of the Executive Secretary-designate of Delta State Security Trust Fund, Mr Sam Osasa, held in his country home, Isumpe, Delta State.
