ASABA—ABAVO community in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State was, Sunday night, thrown into mourning following the killing of one Obuehi Chuks by a commercial bus driver, who drove against traffic.
According to a dependable family source, the accident, which occurred at about 7p.m., was as a result of excessive speed on the part of the killer-driver.
Noting that the identity of the driver was unknown at press time, the family source who gave her name as Juliet Obuehi, said the driver was trying to avoid a pothole when he knocked down the victim, who was riding a motorcycle.
Obuehi lamented that his deceased brother was riding to Agbor on his motorcycle, when the accident occurred, adding that he died on the spot.
While disclosing that the driver was immediately arrested by the police at Abavo, she said the corpse of the victim had been deposited at the Abavo Central Hospital’s mortuary.
While calling on the state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Zanna, to step into the matter and ensure that justice was done, Juliet expressed fears that there were indications that the suspect was on the verge of being released without proper investigation and prosecution of the matter.
