PORTHARCOURT—THE Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has been urged to set up police posts in all villages in Rivers State to enhance the fight against crime.

Deputy governor of the state, Mrs Ipalibo Banigo, in her remarks to mark the International Day of Peace, said the move will close up all routes of escape for criminals in the various communities.

She said that sometimes,  criminals escape after their operations before the arrival of police, adding that with police posts in the various villages, it will be difficult for robbers to escape without being arrested.

Commending Governor Nyesom Wike for steps so far taken to secure lives and property in the state, the deputy governor said that the Federal Government should put measures in place to implement the sustainable development goals 2030 on matters of technology and capacity building.
