Released Gbaramatu students thank leaders

By Akpokona Omafuaire
THE National Association of Gbaramatu Students, NAGS, has commended Gbaramatu leaders and well meaning Niger Delta leaders whose conscious efforts led to the release of the 10 students of Gbaramatu extraction after many months in detention.

The commendation was contained in a statement signed by Comrade Seiyefa Ekpemupolo, its national president, yesterday in Warri.

According to Ekpemupolo, the release of the students has brought joy of reunion with their parents and family members.

“We want to thank all Gbaramatu leaders, IPDI, Niger Delta leaders and others too numerous who prevailed on the military to release the students.

“Though they have lost their examinations, (sic) we are confident that they will start all over. The world can see that they were oppressed for no cause. We have been vindicated, our people are not avengers.

“What happened is part of the oppressive tendencies by forces to give a bad name to Gbaramatu. We are happy our students are back.

“We warn traitors and blackmailers to steer clear of Gbaramatu. We are good citizens, we are contributing our quota to national growth,” the statement  concluded.
