A chieftain of the APC Dr. (Mrs.) Victoria Amu, yesterday, dismissed PDP women leaders seeking to censure Mrs. Betsy Obaseki, wife of the APC candidate over insinuations she referred to Edo women as prostitutes.
Addressing journalists in Benin City, Mrs. Amu, expressed fears that the PDP women have joined their male counterparts in the opposition party in cooking up lies against the ruling government and its candidate. She spoke in reaction to a recent rally where PDP women leaders including Deaconess Regina Oviasu and Chief (Mrs.) Evelyn Igbafe, until recently executive director of Poverty Alleviation in the Adams Oshiomhole government, upbraided Mrs. Obaseki for allegedly insinuating that past PDP administrations caused Edo women to go into prostitution.
Rebuffing the PDP women, Dr. Amu said yesterday: “the PDP women have joined their men in their propaganda life style, and it is sad. If you read the interview granted by Mrs. Obaseki, wife of our governorship candidate, all she said was that because the PDP under developed this state in their ten years in power, that forced our girls to travel out then because the PDP failed to provide jobs for them.
“She said however that the trend has changed since the APC government led by Comrade Adams Oshiomhole came into power. That our girls now stay here and they have things to keep them busy.
So why would people who are supposed to be mothers lie against their fellow woman?
