ENUGU—Members of the National Complementary and Alternative Medical Association of Nigeria, NACAMA, have appealed to the Federal as well as state ministries of health, to include their members in the event of any outbreak of communicable diseases like cholera, gastro-entertis, lassa fever, etc in the country.
President of NACAMA, Prof. Peter Emeka Katchy, who made the appeal on behalf of the association, yesterday in Enugu in an address at a one day workshop organised by Enugu State Ministry of Health in conjunction with NACAMA for alternative medical practitioners in Enugu State, titled: Consolidating Alternative Medicine in Enugu State, said that complementary and alternative medicine is being practised in Europe since 1825 and Nigeria is no exception.
Katchy pointed out that their members be included in medical rescue missions, noting that they have potent drugs that could alleviate and ameliorate disease outbreaks.
Katchy enumerated complementary and alternative medicine to include homoeopathy, naturopathy, acupuncture and osteopathy which he said have healing powers, using natural means, non-synthetic and non petrochemical substances.
