Lagos—The Lagos State judiciary, yesterday, announced the commencement of its 2016/2017 new legal year.
In a statement from the office of the Chief Registrar of the High Court of Lagos state, Mr E.O Ogundare and signed by the Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Grace Alo, stated that “the legal year services will hold simultaneously at the Cathedral Church, Marina, Lagos and the Central Mosque, Lagos on Monday 26th September 2016 by 10:00am prompt.”
The statement reads in part: “On Tuesday, 27th September, The Hon. Chief Judge of Lagos state, Hon. Justice Olufunmilayo Atilade will visit Ikoyi Prison to free deserving inmates by 10am. This visit follows thereafter with a Bar and Bench Forum at the High Court Foyer, Igbosere, Lagos. On Wednesday, 28th September, there will be a Stakeholders Summit on Mental Health Issues And The law involving all legal giants at both the Bar and Bench.”
“The new legal year 2016/2017 programmes will be rounded off with a dinner (strictly by invasion) at the Banquet Hall of the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday 30th, September 2016 by 6pm”, it added.
