HOWZAT!! Nigerian cricketers in an ecstatic gesture
Nigeria maintained their winning streak with a 49-run victory over their West African counterparts, Sierra Leone at the ongoing ICC U19 Cricket World Cup qualifiers in South Africa.
The match which held at the main oval of Sahara Park Willowmoore, in what was essentially a West African cricket derby, saw Nigeria batting first and after winning the toss.
After recording two victories in the series so far, the fight to top the log just made the Nigerian flagbearers more persistent in this game against Sierra
Leone. Sylvester Okpe scored an amazing 88 runs(6:4’s) and taking wickets for Sierra Leone was Osman Thomas Sankoh who took 3 wickets for 49 runs in 10 over’s. Nigeria finished off at 209 all out in 48.3 overs.
Sierra Leone quite aware of the target put in place for them to conquer, went in with all their might but to their dismay was contained to 160 for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. OT Sankoh made 32 runs off 79 balls (2:4’s) and on the bowling end, C Akachukwu, I Uboh, and E Olaleye took 2 wickets each for Nigeria.
