BENIN—A Fugar Magistrate’s Court in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, has remanded Alhaji Nakowa Suleiman, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Mr Effiong Akpan, an Electoral Officer attached to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in  Auchi prison for alleged abduction of two Youth Corps members during the recent voters registration exercise.

The two were alleged to have abducted two Youth Corps members, Matthew Omaji and Grace Adah, confiscated their registration machine to the residence of the PDP leader, where the corpers were coerced to register people illegally.

The defendants pleaded not guilty and were ordered to be remanded in Auchi prison by Magistrate Abibor Emmanuel pending the hearing of their bail applications.

They were alleged to have, on  June 24, 2016, at Ofukpo, in the Fugar Magistrate District, abducted one Mathew Omaji, Grace Adah and compelled them against their will to carry out unlawful activities and thereby committing an offence contrary to section 1 and punishable under section 3 (2) of the Edo State kidnapping prohibition law 2009 as amended in 2013.
