ASABA—THE Nigerian Army, yesterday, vowed to provide adequate security in the creeks and other parts of the Niger Delta region.
General Officer Commanding, GOC, 2nd Division of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major-General Kasimu Abdulkarim, gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, to inform him about their intention to carry out some exercises in the creeks.
“The Nigerian Army is to have a training exercise which is amphibious in nature within the state. We are here to provide adequate security and make the environment safe for all,” he said. He explained that he was on tour of states which the 2 Division of Nigerian Army covers.
In his remark, Governor Okowa stressed the need for the military to always enlighten the public on their activities ahead of time so as not to create unnecessary tension among the people.
