Jigawa state government has announced the immediate suspension of in-service training to all the primary and junior secondary teachers in the state.

This was disclosed by the state commissioner of Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Alhaji Bala Ibrahim while briefing newsmen on the out come of the state’s executive council meeting.

Alhaji Bala Ibrahim explained that the decision was taken sequel to a preliminary reports on the findings by the primary and junior secondary school’s teachers verification committee presented to the state government.

The commissioner noted that the report indicated that there are about over 22, 000 teachers in the state’s pay roll, in which over 5, 000 teacher were on in-service training for more than five years did not returned despite the fact that some have completed their studies.

His words, “The State’s Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) is lacking teachers in the primary and junior secondary schools across the state. That is why it has became necessary to put all training on hold until after the committee exercise”.

He maintained that findings by the committee revealed that the State’s Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) is shortage of over 4, 000 teacher with over 5, 000 were away for studies beyond the approved studies period.

Alhaji Ibrahim added that presently there is 900 teachers who went on training and studies courses irrelevance to the teaching qualification, added that the office of the head of service is working to sent them to government agencies that is relevant to their training.

The information commissioner disclosed further that the council assessed the level of 2016 budget and directed all the ministries and agencies to submits reports on the level implementation.

“Also the MDAs directed to submits their plans and how to spent the balance on the remaining five months period” he emphases.
