THE Ports and Terminal Multi services Limited (PTML) command of the Nigeria Customs Service has concluded plans to suspend 243 clearing licenses for infractions in import duty payment to customs over several containers cleared between 2014 and 2016.

The information, which was pasted at the command and sighted by our correspondent yesterday was issued by the Post Clearance Audit (PCA) department of the command.

The information was released by the head of PTML Customs Post Clearance Audit (PCA), Assistant Controller Naigwan CK on 27th of April 2016.

Public Relations Officer of the command, Mr. Steve Okonmah said there were infraction in the jobs cleared at the port with those practising licenses.

He said that a Debit Note (DN) would be raised for any of the defaulters that show up at the unit within the time frame given.

He warned that those that fail to come forward will be blocked.

Speaking on the development, one of the affected clearing agents (names withheld) condemned the move by the Post Clearance Audit department, describing it as an illegality.

Meanwhile, The Lagos State Wharf Landing Fees Collecting Authority has called on stakeholders in the cargo business to ensure prompt payment of landing fees saying government needs all funds for sustainable development.

Chairman of the Lagos State Wharf Landing Fees Collecting Authority, Engr. Joe Igbokwe, said this at a familiarization meeting held with stakeholders in Apapa, Lagos.

Igbokwe called on stakeholders to collaborate with government saying “this is going to be a symbiotic relationship.”
