BENIN CITY – Arewa Forum in Edo State, declared its support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Godwin Obaseki, saying he is better qualified to lead the state than any other candidate.

The President-General of the forum, Alh.Sahabi Aliu Umar, who disclosed this at a rally in Aduwawa, Edo State, said the forum has started mobilising its people to support the candidate.

The President-General stressed that all the Hausa-speaking people and also those from the northern part of the country, across the eighteen local government areas of the state, will be fully mobilised to support Obaseki.

According to him, the forum’s decision to support the APC candidate, was due to the cooperation members had enjoyed under the administration of Governor Adams Oshiomhole in the last seven years.

Umar particularly noted that, not only were some members of the forum given appointment under Oshiomhole, the governor never treated any matter affecting them with levity.

“We all know how Edo was before he came, and see what he has done within the last seven years. So, we will support what he supports.

“In the area of support, he has been there for the Hausa’s, and other non indigenes alike. But for us, the Arewa, we have commenced mobilising our people across the state to support his candidate”, Umar said.

Mr Anselm Ojezua, chairman of the APC in the state noted that a vote for Obaseki will mean continuation of the performance.

“For once, Edo is working. We have the pride of being one of the few states in the country that is still carrying our development projects and paying salaries in the face of the present economy challenges.  We are also the only state that have increase its minimum wage to N25, 000. In all of this, we have Godwin Obaseki to thank as the chairman of the state economy team,” stated Ojezua.
