Training for 2020 Olympics begins in Rio
George Aluo and Christian Okpara are Sports Editors of Sun and Guardian Newspapers respectively. They are here covering the Rio Olympics. After an energy-sapping day’s job, George asked Christian to snap a pix of him with a beautiful background of skyscrapers.
It’s important that you take pictures and get backgrounds that are foreign. Else, people can accuse you of going to Bar beach to take pictures of the high-rising mega-city buildings. Christian obliged and after three shots, he handed George over his phone. It was not until George screamed and shouted at Christian that we got up to know what was amiss. ‘’I told him to take my pictures and see what he snapped.
Instead of getting me with these skyscrapers, he got me with all these LAWMA dustbins. People will not know that this is Rio. They’ll think it is Lagos with these LAWMA-like bins”. I had to intervene and get the skyscrapers behind him. Watch out for the pictures in his Facebook. I still have the LAWMA ones in case ….
Training for 2020 Olympics begins in Rio
Just as the Games is getting towards the home stretch, one cannot but wonder why so many athletes are still training as if there is another Olympics by the corner. I asked a Chinese athlete who said that they have started training for Tokyo 2020 Olympics. “Our training for Tokyo 2020 starts from the day you finish your event in Rio,” he said. Need I say anything?
