War on Crime: Wike donates security vans to Police

PORT HARCOURT—To further strengthen  the  Nigerian Police to fight crime in Rivers State, Governor  Nyesom Wike has donated additional  20 Patrol Vans fitted with state-of-the-art communication  equipment  to the security  agency.

The governor and the 23 local government areas of the state had on two previous  occasions  released 110 patrol vans to security  agencies  operating in the state.  The latest donation brings the number  to 130 security  vans fitted with communication gadgets donated to the security agencies.

The governor  also facilitated the release  of  dedicated telephone  lines to the police for faster response to residents in distress.

Governor Wike  further released bullet proof vests and helmets to the Rivers State Police Command.

Making the presentation  of  the  security  facilities  to the Rivers State Police Command,  Governor Wike  represented by the Permanent Secretary of Government House, Port Harcourt, Mr Onyemachi Nwankwo assured all security  agencies  operating in the state of his commitment to assisting them with the required  logistics to perform .

Governor Wike  commended the Nigerian  Police for her efforts to enhance the security of lives and property in the  state.

Receiving the patrol vans and other items,  Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Foluso Adebanjo    commended Governor Wike  for responding to the demand for  facilities that will help nip crime in the bud.
