Lagos—A hair stylist, Tokunboh Olanrewaju, who was alleged to have assaulted his supervisor after he was sacked at a beauty spa in Victoria Island Lags, was yesterday docked before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court sitting at Igbosere.

Olanrewaju, 30, who resides at 14, Abagon Close off Ologun Agbaje Street, VI, was docked before Magistrate F. M. Dalley.

The defendant is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on breach of peace and unlawful assault preferred against him by the police.

The prosecutor, Corporal Friday Mameh, said that Olanrewaju committed the alleged offences last Saturday, July 16.

He alleged that the defendant disobeyed an instruction of his supervisor, one Kenneth Okpaise, while fixing a customer’s hair at a saloon within the beauty spa and was sacked by the Managing Director.

Mameh also stated that Olanrewaju conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of public peace by forcing himself back into the saloon to attack Okpaise.

He said Olanrewaju bit Okpaise on the face and “used his fingers to inflict serious lateral cuts all over the complainant’s body.”

According to Mameh, the offences are punishable under Sections 166(d) and 171 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011.

During a preliminary enquiry by Magistrate Dalley, Okpaise said Olanrewaju evaded a mobile policewoman that was leading him out of the premises and ran back into the salon.

“He attacked me from behind, tore my clothes, bit me on the face and cut me all over my body with his fingernails,” Okpaise added.

However the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate Dalley granted him bail in the sum of N50,000, with two sureties in like sum, one of who must be his relative, while both must provide evidence of three years’ tax payment.

She adjourned the case till August 2.
