ENUGU—The All Progressives Congress, APC, in the South East has joined the presidency in advising all the principal officers of the National Assembly, NASS, facing trial for alleged forgery to resign their positions in the Assembly to concentrate on their defence.

The Federal Government last week, charged the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu and two other principal officers of the Senate to court for alleged forgery. All the accused persons whoever pleaded not guilty and blamed the Presidency for preferring the charge to cow the National Assembly into submission.

Zonal Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon Hyacinth Ngwu, who made this known in a statement in Enugu, yesterday, said that it was more honourable to throw in the towel instead of writing letters and appealing to the international community for help.

The statement read, “The APC, in the South East geopolitical zone has advised all the principal officers of the NASS being tried for forgery to do the needful by resigning their positions in the Assembly to enable them focus their energy in defending themselves.”
