OLEH—NEMESIS caught up with a member of a three-man gang of suspected armed robbers at Emede community, Isoko South Local Government Area, Delta State, Sunday, when he was apprehended and set ablaze by a mob.
It was learned that teh armed robbers, who rode into the community on a motorcycle, had blocked a bush path in the village, terrorising marketers.
Sources said the hoodlums had attempted to break into a building materials store when some residents of the community raised alarm, alerting the villagers and vigilante members on the development.
A source, who preferred anonymity, said one of the hoodlums was apprehended, while the others fled the community.
Confirming the incident yesterday, Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, Celestina Kalu, said the villagers and members of the community’s vigilante team mobilised and apprehended one of them, “and set him ablaze.”
According to her, the police mobilised surveillance and patrol teams to the scene of the incident, adding that “the mob has since dispersed.”
She said no arrest was made and that the case was under investigation.
