All Progressives Congress, APC chieftain in Delta State and Itsekiri opinion leader, Mr. Justin Rewane, Friday, said protesting Itsekiri youths did not sack him from his Warri residence as reported by the media.
Rewane, who spoke to Saturday Vanguard on phone, said: “My family and I were not even in the house when they came to my residence and the question of sacking me from my home for expressing my opinion did not arise.”
His words: “Our royal father, His Majesty Ikenwoli, the Olu of Warri is the custodian of the tradition and custom of Itsekiri people and when I heard what was happening, I contacted him. The issue in question is an APC matter and I took an advertorial to express my opinion in Vanguard of Thursday, July 28 with other Itsekiri APC leaders.”
Rewane, who expressed satisfaction with the role of Olu of Warri on the matter, said, “As far as I am concerned, our king has resolved the matter and he made it clear before now that anybody that has an issue that bothers on Itsekiri interest should bring the matter to the palace.”
“That is what I expect any person to do, it is the Olu, not any person else that will determine whether any matter is against Itsekiri interest or otherwise. However, as I told you earlier, it is a party matter,” he asserted.
The APC chieftain also disclosed that former governor of Delta state, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, contacted him when he heard about the invasion of his house, adding that he (Rewane) assured him that the monarch had already intervened.
