Lions Club celebrates centenary with N15m project

Lions Club International, District 404A1 Lagos, is set to celebrate its centennial year with the completion of its N15 million Eye Centre, the District Governor, Dr. Ayodele Ajayi, has said.

In a statement, yesterday, Dr. Ajayi said: “The district’s main project is to raise N15 million to furnish and equip Oluwatoyin Eye Centre. No matter how bad the economy is, what makes us lions is our ability to give from the little we have of our talent, time and resources to helping others, especially the less-privileged in our societies.”

Reiterating the organisation’s commitment to its traditional service of youth empowerment, saving sight, feeding the hungry and environmental protection, Dr. Ajayi, who assumed leadership for the new Lion Year, July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017, the 100th year of the club’s existence, acknowledged the significance of the centennial celebration.

He said: “We will celebrate by expanding our community service projects, invite new members to join our association for better impact and connect better with our communities through our legacy projects.”
