UYO—THE Akwa Ibom State Government, has denied media report of abandonment of the people of  Awa Iman, Onna Local Government Area of the state, saying that the state  Ministry of Works has since arrested the menace of flooding in the area, while people whose houses were demolished to create the channeling process were duly paid their compensation in line with the guidelines outlined by the Ministry and the independent valuers.

Reacting to the report, the state government, said “Let us state here in no uncertain terms that  the  report is absolutely false and laden with malicious intents. Awa Iman in Onna Local Government Area is a town that is below the sea level and flooding has been a common problem in the area, and Governor Udom Emmanuel, seeing the plight of the people had intervened as he has done elsewhere.

“Governor Emmanuel has shown an incredible sense of compassion, steadiness, and financial discipline and in the process demonstrated that he is the right person for the job.”
