Woman activist backs dialogue in N-Delta

By Tare Youdeowei

WARRI—A Niger Delta activist from Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Mrs Doris Esiemighan, has sued for peace in the oil-rich Niger Delta region where militants have been attacking oil installations.

In a statement in Warri,  Esiemighan said that the present situation in Gbaramatu Kingdom was regrettable and implored both the Federal Government and Niger Delta Avengers to embrace dialogue for total peace to be restored.

Blaming unrest in the Niger Delta region on long years of neglect, she said: “The people of the region are being oppressed,  their environment has been polluted with nothing to show for the oil from the region and this is why the militants are up in arms against the Federal Government and the peace loving people of Gbaramatu Kingdom have remained at the receiving end.”
