The oil magnate who recently sponsored the Joseph Yobo Centenary game, in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, is once again sponsoring the farewell match, tagged “Team Ighalo vs Team Ajegunle,” to be played at Navy Barracks, Ajegunle, by 4pm.

The Watford striker who lost his father last  April thanked Dr. Ubah for his unflinching support for the game of football in Nigeria.

Ighalo said: “Dr. Ubah has always been steadfast in his love and support for our sports and its development at the grassroots level. I am indeed very grateful to Dr. Ubah, who has always been a mentor for his benevolence, his support towards this event means a whole lot to me.”

On his reasons for choosing Ajegunle, Ighalo pointed out that having being brought up in Ajegunle, he had no other family or people to celebrate with than those that shaped him and his career.

While expressing his joy at the kind gesture of Ubah, who is the Chairman, Anambra State Football Association, former General Secretary of Nigeria Football Association (now Nigeria Football Federation), Ambassador Fanny Amun (MON) said Dr. Ubah has shown and will keep showing football-loving Nigerians that he is determined and true to his words as it pertains rendering the needed support and promoting anything that has to do with football and grassroots development in Nigeria.

Amun said: “The Anambra State Football family should be thankful for Dr. Ubah. His entrance into the football scene in Anambra will surely add immense value, I am sure of that. This consistent show of support for Nigerian footballers and Nigerian football in general demonstrates his love for the game and brings to light his capacity to turn things around in Anambra State football.”

Nigerian internationals billed to participate in the fare-well match are Lazio midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi; Olympiacos striker, Brown Ideye; Hapoel Be’er Sheva midfielder, John Ogu among others. However, the event will start at 12.00noon with musical and dance performances, as well as other competitions.
