Ado-Ekiti—Ekiti State chapter of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, ANCOPSS, has appealed to the striking workers in the state to sheath their swords and return to the negotiating table.

This was just as the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon Kola Oluwawole, appealed to them to consider the holy month of Ramadan, to make peace with the state government over the issue of their unpaid salaries.

Workers in the state under the aegis of the Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) and Trade Union Congress, (TUC) had on 26th of May declared an indefinite strike action over unpaid five months salaries.

ANCOPSS also urged the state’s arm of the labour to ensure that they separate politics from activism and reach a common ground with the state government.

The Principals spoke yesterday during the inauguration of the new state executives of the union.

They pressed for more understanding on the part of the labour in view of the fact that secondary students in the state are now sitting for their senior school examinations and the unified school examinations.

Mr. Biodun Omotosho, new President of ANCOPSS in the state said: “It is quite unfortunate that we find ourselves in this situation.’’
