Ibadan—FORMER President Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday had a closed-door meeting with  Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State in his office.

Though, the details of the private visit was not disclosed, it may not be unconnected with the on-going tussle between the state government and the Nigeria Labour Congress in the state over backlog of unpaid salaries and alleged privatisation of secondary education in the state.

In his usual character, the former President did not respond to several questions put to him. He just smiled and said the visit was a private one.

Meanwhile, a seven-hour meeting between labour leaders and Governor Ajimobi over the face-off was deadlocked as no concrete agreement was reached.

The NLC was led by the Deputy President of the union, Peters Adeyemi, the National Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, and the State Chairman of the NLC, Waheed Olojede and other labour representatives from the national headquarters of NLC and NUT.

Though Adeyemi described the meeting as fruitful, he added that the parties were yet to reach a conclusion on the matter following the request by the labour representatives to be given 24 hours to allow them brief the congress on the outcome of the meeting.
