The Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Council in Enugu State, Ikechukwu Ubagu, has lauded what he described as the commendable efforts of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in touching the lives of the people of the state.
Fielding questions from reporters during the event to mark the first anniversary of the current administration in Enugu State and the 17th Democracy Day, Ubagu said the Governor had shown that a government deeply committed to the people could still touch their lives substantially even in the face of dwindling resources.
The Council Chairman said whereas resources currently available to the State were far lower than what it was in the past years, the Governor had recorded commendable impacts in rural transformation and urban renewal.
He commended Governor Ugwuanyi for choosing Nkanu East among the three local governments in special need of developmental interventions. The other two are Uzo Uwani and Awgu.
Hon. Ubagwu particularly commended the Governor for the ongoing multi-million naira Inyaba Bridge Project to link up the Northern and Southern parts of Nkanu East and create more access between Enugu State and Ebonyi State.
He extolled the Governor for clearing the salary arrears of workers he inherited and ensuring the prompt payment of workers salaries despite the fall in monthly allocations to the state.
