LAGOS—The Lagos State governorship Candidate of the National Conscience Party, NCP, in the 2015 general elections, Comrade Ayodele Akele, has distanced his party from the inability of the state government to hold local council polls, saying the government should be held responsible.

Akele, who also criticised the appointment of care-taker committees to run the affairs of the 20 local councils and 37 local council development areas, spoke yesterday on ‘The flagrant and unrepentant breach of the provisions of the constitution on the 3rd tier of government in Lagos by the state government.’

Challenging the All Progressives Congress, APC-led state government to conduct the council polls, if it was not afraid of defeat, he said: ‘’APC in Lagos has been sponsoring propaganda and disinformation campaign against NCP.”

‘’The Ambode APC regime in Lagos even went to the extent of criminally alleging that the National Conscience Party is to be blamed for their refusal to organise elections into local councils because of our law suit.’’
