ASABA—Elders of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State, have condemned the renewed surge of militancy in the region and disassociated themselves from the Biafran agitation. An a meeting held in Ozoro, the elders said that “Delta State is not and will never be part of the Biafra struggle.”

The elders also hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for the manner he has piloted the affairs of the country in the last one year. On the dissolution of Delta State executive  following a  court judgment, the elders noted that the non-implementation of an earlier decision of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, had rendered the state chapter of APC lacking in direction.

“We hereby as a matter of urgency call on the NWC of our great party to take decisive steps towards constituting a broad-based caretaker committee within 14 days, failing which we shall constitute same without further delay, as a matter of necessity,” they added.

The elders called on the NWC of the party to rise up to its responsibility concerning the affairs of APC in Delta State. Leader of the APC elders, Senator F. Okpozo in a statement, noted that it was their efforts that brought about the party’s constitution and bemoaned the activities of those reaping the benefit.

One of the elders, Engr. Hyacinth Enuha, urged members of the party in the state to keep faith with the party, adding that there was a better future in the APC government.
