Speaking during an interactive session with Vanguard management at the company’s corporate headquarters in Lagos, Mr. Anosike said those newspapers that benefited from the old Daily Times should contribute towards ensuring the continuing survival and profit of the brand.
Anosike had in his delegation to Vanguard, reigning Miss Nigeria, Leesi Peter-Vigboro, Mr. Oliseh Egbunike, General Media Manager, Mr. Biodun Durojaiye, Editor, Daily/Online among others.
He was received by Mr. Gbenga Adefaye, General Manager, Vanguard Media Limited, Mr. Mideno Bayagbon, Editor, among others.
Giving the determination of the new Daily Times management to tap from Vanguard, Anosike said:
“In terms of legacy and what we need to do, we are surely going to be learning from you, it is a very tough and challenging industry but the only way we can survive is coming up with programmes like this,” Anosike said as he commended Vanguard for sustaining its leadership position as the country’s number one online platform as assessed by online ranking agency, alexa.com.
Anosike, who said that the new management was laying a solid foundation for continued growth of the newspaper said:
“In terms of the business, we have laid a solid foundation that can sustain this paper for the next 90years. But the idea is now how do you build it to profitability to the glory of the people that built the enterprise.”
Also speaking, Miss Nigeria 2016, Miss Peter-Vigboro said her experience as the reigning beauty queen would build her into a model who would be able to maximally impact her society.
On Miss Nigeria, she said: “The advantage of having a 90-year-old paper like Daily Times is that you have an institution that knows the history of the country. We will have a library where anyone that wants to research the history of the country can come to. That is part of the innovation we are bringing because it is linked to Nigeria’s history and heritage.”
