BENIN—A governorship aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has said that he remains focused in his aspiration to become the next governor of Edo State, despite the machinations of his detractors.

Addressing his supporters in Benin City, weekend, Ize-Iyamu said rumours surrounding his candidature were deliberate attempts to scuttle the determination of majority of the delegates waiting to give him the governorship ticket during  the primaries of the party today.

He said that attempts had been made in the past to discourage him from his determination to contest the governorship primaries but to no avail, adding that the detractors had now devised a new approach to dampen the enthusiasm of supportive delegates.

Calling on all the delegates who had expressed their support for him to remain calm and focused, Ize-Iyamu assured the delegates that they will have the last laugh after the primaries.

He said: “All my delegates who have been following proceedings would have since seen the handwriting on the wall that those who already see victory coming my way have been restless. ‘’I appeal to all of you to remain focused because that is what democracy requires. By evening on Monday after the primaries, we shall all sing victory song.”
