Poor economy: Govs should think out of the box — Amosun

ABUJA—Governor Ibikunke Amosun of Ogun State has advised his colleagues and indeed, the Nigerian government to be more creative, saying it was the only way out the current economic and financial challenges be-devilling the country.

Offering a leeway, the governor said that the states must diversify their economies.

Amosun, who spoke to State House correspondents after a private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja yesterday said that it was in a bid to diversify Ogun State economy that his government organized the recent investors’ forum which he said was the fourth in the series.

According to him, the state’s revenue had now risen to 97.8% as a result of drastic economic measures.
Afenifere backs gov’s action

Reacting to the development, the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere threw its weight behind the, saying it was a timely move.

Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Yinka Odumakin, in a statement said “our attention has been drawn to the courageous move by the Ekiti state Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose the action of the governor is a timely move to strengthen the civilization that places higher premium on human lives than cows.
