National vice-chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the South-South and Southeast, Dr. Cairo Ojugboh and Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd) have expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the party ward congresses in the two geopolitical zones.
The two party chieftains speaking to Saturday Vanguard ahead of today’s local government congresses in the two zones said issues arising from last weekend’s congresses were being articulated even as they expressed readiness for today’s local government congresses to elect new executives for the local governments.
Col. Akonbundu speaking on the ward congresses in the South-East said: “We are still articulating the reports, but it was largely successful.
We are seriously preparing for the LG congress and we hope to also make it a success.”
Dr. Ojugboh on his part said the success of the congresses was the party’s first step towards reclaiming power at the centre in 2019.
Ojougboh in a telephone chat with the Saturday Vanguard, held that the congresses which held last weekend were transparent and devoid of rancour in the South South.
Saying he was in touch with the PDP State chairmen in Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa-Ibom, Cross Rivers and other States in the region, he said they would build and consolidate on the successes of the ward congress.
