PDP chieftains protest over Delta congresses

Some chieftains of the Peoples Demo-cratic Party (PDP) in Ughelli-North, Delta State have written to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to protest the ward and local government congresses in the area, which they said did not follow due process.

“Prior to the congresses, some political office holders from the area decided to exclude so many other forceful political leaders from the consensus  process of selecting delegates, ward exco and LGA exco members as zoned to the various wards.  According to them, they would only invite those who can be loyal to them such as their drivers and house boys come 2019 when they shall vie to contest election”, the chieftains said in a statement signed on their behalf by Delta State Assistant Publicity Secretary, Chief Chris Obiawuebi.

They went on: “In fact, they hijacked the party machinery from the incumbent party officials in the local government. Both the LGA party Chairman, Assistant State Publicity Secretary of the party and so many leaders have been totally excluded from their factional meetings.”
