Niger PDP splits into two factions

Minna- The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Niger state has splited into two with former state Chairman of the party, Alhaji Abdulrahman Mahmud Enagi leading a parallel Exco in the state.

Not only leading a factionalized EXCO, he has also threatened to drag the other faction led by the immediate past Vice Chairman of the Party, Barrister Tanko Bejiwhile to court.

Enagi, while addressing journalists in Minna yesterday, said the last state congress was marred with irregularities, impunity, imposition that would not be acceptable by the concerned PDP members in the state hence the formation of the parallel EXCO.

He noted that the same attitude was displayed by some members of the party which eventually led to the total failure of the party in the last general elections in Niger state and Nigeria, adding that such would not be allowed to repeat itself.

The factional leader expressed worry over the hijacking of the whole process by an individual to the detriment of the entire party stakeholders in the state, accusing former governor Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure of single handedly sidelining everybody by installing only his candidates during the congress.

The former PDP chairman noted that the 900 delegates were accredited at the last congress but that one of the candidates scored 1,700 votes, adding that this was enough to disqualify the candidate thus bringing sanity into the system.

Immediate-past Secretary to State Government, SSG, Hon. Idris Ndako Kpaki also said that the party has learned its lessons from the last general election and that the new EXCO led by Alhaji Enagi will carry everybody along and lead the state again.

The Chairman of the new faction has Hon. Yusuf Kure while the Deputy Chairman is Tsalha Attahiru and the secretary is Adamu Mohammed Wanigi.
