Kano rerun: No life was lost – Police

KANO – The Kano Command of the Nigeria police force has declared that no life was lost during the botched state House of Assembly rerun at Minjibir.

Minjibir town 35 km north of Kano was thrown into chaos by hoodlums during the House of Assembly rerun last Saturday.

A statement made available to Vanguard in Kano and signed by the Kano Police Public Relation Officer, DSP Magaji Musa Majia dismissed as untrue reports on certain section of the media that life was lost during the mayhem.

DSP Magaji Musa Majia stressed that “for the sake of clarity, I wish to state that no single life was lost during the exercise”

The press release revealed that two women who sustained injuries when thugs disrupted the peaceful exercise were treated and discharged, adding that ” minimum force was employed to safeguard the electorate, election materials and INEC officials.

DSP Magaji Musa Majia revealed several hoodlums were arrested during the crisis at Minjibir town, adding that they would soon appear in court.

The statement therefore advise Media platform to seek clarification from competent authority before rushing to the press.
