The Federal Government, yesterday, appointed Vanguard columnist, Mr. Ishaq Modibo Kawu, as the Director-General of Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, NBC.
He is one of the six parastatal chiefs under the Ministry of Information and Culture.
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, announced the appointments in Abuja.
Mr. Kawu, until his new appointment, was a columnist in Vanguard Newspapers where he wrote on issues of national interest.
Others appointees are Mr. Mansur Liman, Director-General, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN; Yakubu Mohammed, Director-General, Nigerian Television Authority, NTA; Garba Abari, Director-General, National Orientation Agency, NOA; Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Managing Director, News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, and Mr. Osita Okechukwu, Director-General, Voice of Nigeria, VON.
According to a statement from the ministry, the new appointees, whose appointment takes immediate effect, replace the chief executives of the parastatals, who were disengaged three months ago and the appointments take immediate effect.
