Enugu—No fewer than 20 road projects covering 35 kilometres have so far been constructed and rehabilitated by the Enugu State government in the past one year.
The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Dr. Patrick Ikpenwa made this known in an interview with newsmen in Enugu on his activities in the past one year, pointing out that the state government had invested so much on road construction in spite of the economic down-turn in the country.

He said that the completed urban roads included Holy Ghost Rd, Samuelson Rd, Holy Trinity Rd, Nawfia St., Mbanefo St., Ridgeway Road and Colliery and Lake Avenue in Enugu metropolis.
Others are Airport Roundabout-Emene-Eke Obinagu Road, 9th Mile By-pass, Isiuzo St., and Abakpa Nike Road.
He said that some of the rural roads including the 11.6-kilometre Opi-Nsukka dual carriageway were at various stages of completion just like the Udenu Ring Road, Umuezebi Road, and Post Office Roundabout-Odenigbo-Ogurugu-Ikenga Road all in Nsukka.
His words: “Work is also in progress at Obechara Road Junction, Amankwo-Ameke-Amah Brewery, Orie Emene-Adoration Ground, Nkpokiti Estate Internal Roads and Ibuzo Street in Independence Layout, Enugu.
“Government has completed renovation and reconstruction of some public buildings like the Deputy Governor’s Office, Protocol Unit, Government House Fuel Dump, and landscaping of Government House.”
