AS the National Executive Council of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN meets in an extraordinary session to address the crisis rocking its TEKAN/ECWA bloc, president of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and co-founder of Cultural Evangelistic Ministries for Africa, CEMA, Rev. Dr. Jeremiah Gado, 63, the first person to publicly declare his interest in the presidency of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has denied insinuations that he is a government candidate.
“My candidacy dates back to 2013. Was this government in power then? In 2013, I was asked to preach at the Christmas Carol and the present leadership at that time had his eyes on me,” Dr. Gado said, declaring: “I am not a government candidate. I am spending time to get money to help educate people, to help inform people.
Have you seen us make any publication? Have you seen us make any press statement or advertorial? Is it because we don’t want to?
“No! We want to but the money is not there. If we were government candidate, we would be flowing in money. My candidacy is being supported and funded by private friends.
I can give you a list of them. So it’s not true. They think that projecting me as government candidate and because the president is a Muslim so therefore I am a Muslim candidate, they have failed. I am not a Muslim candidate. I am God’s candidate. I am CAN’s candidate.’’
