The dwindling federal allocation and attendant cash crunch in the face of mounting social and economic needs call for concerted effort by South-East governors to promote economic integration.
An advisory board member of the Common-wealth Enterprise and Investment Council London and Group Mana-ging Director of Chimons Ltd, an oil and gas conglo-merate, Chibuike Achigbu gave the charge while responding to questions on the way forward for the South East beyond oil.
He bemoaned the lack of serious creative engagement to reposition the economy of the region, especially against the backdrop of obvious development gaps, poor performance of private business and huge army of the unemployed.
While commending the effort of some governors in the zone, he said the absence of basic infrastructure might eventually prevent the realisation of set objectives.
