Ondo PDP holds congress, tasks Buhari over free polls

Akure— GOVERNOR Olusegun Mimiko yesterday said that the greatest gift that President Muhammadu Buhari  can bequeath towards  sustaining the nation’s democracy is to give room to free, fair and credible and violent free elections.

He spoke in Akure during the state congress of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.

Expressing concern over the elections so far conducted under the present administration, he said; “ The greatest gift required from the President is to ensure credible, violence free election and the future will be bright for our nation. In spite of our challenges today, this nation has manifested to be leader of nations

“ Let’s continue to invest our faith in credible election, credible election is the key to future of this nation there’s no alternative to this and there is no alternative to democracy.

“Without being sounding political, because the problem of Nigerians is that there is too much of politics than governance, I want to appeal to the President that the greatest gift he can give this nation is credible election”

“ No matter our challenges as a country , once a free, fair and credible elections is entrenched in our democracy, the future will be bright.

“ Let me therefore appealed to our President that the greatest gift to democracy and Nigeria is a credible elections.

Governor Mimiko expressed concern over the conduct of elections since the advent of the present administration in the country.

He however assured that the November 26 governorship election in the state would be violence free.

Earlier, the leader of the electoral committee that conducted the state congress from Abuja Hon Muhammad Imam lauded the peaceful conduct of the congress.
